ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION PROJECT
Homegrown Power in Oklahoma
The Heartland Spirit Connector is a proposed transmission project that would consist of approximately 540 miles of new high-voltage transmission lines through Oklahoma. The project would transport cost-effective clean energy from America’s heartland, bringing jobs and economic opportunity to local communities in Oklahoma.
New transmission lines would help power American homes and businesses with American-made energy. The transmission line is expected to be in operation by the early 2030s after a three-year construction period.*
Heartland Spirit Connector, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Transmission, LLC, would finance, build, own and operate the project. Affiliates of NextEra Energy Transmission are trusted transmission service providers with a proven history of building and operating over 2,700 miles of reliable, cost-effective transmission projects in the United States and Canada.
*Project schedule is subject to change.

Employment Opportunities
Construction would generate an estimated 500 new jobs in the area. The project would transport cost-effective clean energy from America’s heartland, bringing jobs and economic opportunity to local communities.

Environmental Stewardship
Federal, state, and local stakeholders will be consulted during project siting and development to identify potential environmental impacts and take actions to reduce impacts. A robust environmental analysis would be conducted consistent with guidance from the state siting authorities and regulatory agencies. We will also implement best management practices and mitigation measures as appropriate.
